PinPeek Privacy Policy

The short version

• PinPeek analyses Pinterest search results in your own browser. Your keywords, pins and results are never sent to me. PinPeek has no server and no account.
• Your saved keywords, your websites and your settings are stored in your browser, and in your own Chrome sync.
• The words on pin images are read on your computer. Images are never uploaded.
• AI apps can use PinPeek only if you switch that on and allow each app. The connection stays on your computer.
• PinPeek sends anonymous counts of which of its features are used, once a day, to Google Analytics. Never your keywords, pins, websites or the pages you visit. You can switch this off in Settings.
• No ads, and nothing is ever sold.

Who this policy covers

This policy is for PinPeek - Pinterest Keyword Research & Competition, a Chrome extension made by Muntaseer Rahman ("I", "me"). It explains what the extension does with data. It also covers pinpeek-mcp, the small helper that AI apps use to talk to PinPeek. The rest of muntaseerrahman.com has its own site privacy policy. PinPeek is not affiliated with Pinterest, Inc.

What PinPeek reads on Pinterest

On Pinterest search pages, PinPeek reads the search results Pinterest has loaded for you: each pin's title, description, website, saves, date, format and image. When you click Analyze, it works out the verdict, the websites, the beatable pins, the keywords and the design of the top pins from them, in your browser. To read colours and the words on the top pins, it loads those pins' images from Pinterest's image server, the same images shown on the page.

None of this is sent to me or to anyone else. PinPeek never scrolls, clicks, saves, follows or posts on Pinterest, and never sees or asks for your Pinterest password. It does not collect the pins you browse outside an analysis.

What PinPeek stores, and where

PinPeek stores the keywords you save with a summary of their analysis, the websites you tell it are yours, the text you write in "About you" for AI prompts, and your settings. The full report of a saved keyword stays on the computer where you analysed it.

All of this is kept in Chrome's extension storage on your computer. Chrome also keeps a copy of your saved keywords, websites and settings in your Chrome sync, so they appear on your other computers. That copy is handled by Google under your Google account and Google's privacy policy. I cannot see it.

Text on pins

PinPeek reads the words printed on the top pins' images with text recognition (Tesseract) that ships inside the extension. It runs on your computer, in a hidden page of the extension. The images and the words read from them are not uploaded or sent anywhere. The words are kept with a saved keyword's report on that computer.

AI apps (MCP)

This is off until you switch on Let AI tools use PinPeek on the MCP page. When it is on, PinPeek connects to pinpeek-mcp, a helper that your AI app (such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop or Cursor) runs on your own computer, at the address 127.0.0.1. Nothing is sent over the internet by PinPeek or the helper. The helper keeps one random ID in a file on your computer so PinPeek can remember that you allowed it.

PinPeek asks you to Allow each helper before it answers anything. An allowed app can ask PinPeek to analyse a keyword, which PinPeek does by opening that Pinterest search in a background tab of your Chrome and closing it when done, and it can read your saved keywords. The results go to that app. What the AI app does with them next is covered by the app's own privacy terms, not this policy. You can remove an app or switch the connection off at any time on the MCP page.

AI prompts you copy

The AI prompt tab builds a prompt from the analysis and your "About you" text. It is only copied to your clipboard or downloaded as a file when you press the button. PinPeek does not send it anywhere.

Feedback you choose to send

PinPeek has an optional feedback form. If you use it, what you send (your message, the email address you enter so I can reply, the type of feedback and PinPeek's version number) is emailed to me. It passes through a small service that forwards the email and keeps no copy. If you open it from "PinPeek can't read this page", the message starts filled in with the problem, the Pinterest site, a few counts and the keyword you searched, which you can delete before sending. Nothing is sent unless you press Send.

Anonymous usage counts

So I can tell which features are worth improving, PinPeek sends a few counts to Google Analytics. On days you use PinPeek, it sends one small batch the next time it is busy, covering the day before:

• that PinPeek was used that day, and how many saved keywords you have (a number only);
• how many analyses were run, and how often each tab was opened;
• how often keywords were copied or exported, a keyword was saved or kept for later, keywords were compared, and pin text was read;
• how often an AI prompt was opened, copied or downloaded, and how often its task was changed;
• whether the AI app connection was switched on, an app allowed, and how many analyses or saved-keyword reads came from AI apps;
• how often the tour was finished or skipped, the settings page opened, a Pinterest reading problem shown or reported, and what you chose if PinPeek asked for a review.

It also sends one event when PinPeek is installed and when it updates, with the version number. Each message carries a random ID made on your computer so days can be counted, which is not linked to you, your Google account or your other computers. Google Analytics adds a rough location from the connection, at country or city level, as it does for any website.

Never sent: your keywords, pins, websites, the pages you visit, prompts or anything you type. The counts are used only to improve PinPeek, are not used for advertising, and are handled by Google under the Google Analytics data processing terms. To stop them, switch off Settings, Share anonymous usage counts. Nothing more is sent from that moment, and counts not yet sent are discarded.

When you uninstall

When PinPeek is removed, Chrome opens a short goodbye page on this website. Its address carries three numbers: PinPeek's version, how many days it was installed, and how many saved keywords you had. Never a keyword. Nothing is sent unless you tap a reason on that page. If you do, the reason, anything you choose to type, those three numbers and, only if you enter it, your email address are emailed to me through the same service as the feedback form, which keeps no copy.

Permissions and why they are needed

What PinPeek never does

• It does not collect your browsing history, or run on any site other than Pinterest.
• It does not send your keywords, pins, results or images to me or to any server.
• It does not show ads, does not use advertising or cross-site trackers, and loads no code from the internet.
• It does not sell or rent your data, and shares it with no one beyond the anonymous counts above.
• It does not use your data for anything other than analysing Pinterest keywords for you.

PinPeek's use of information follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Your control over your data

You can delete any saved keyword on the Saved keywords page, change or remove your websites at any time, and export your saved keywords to a CSV file. Deleting a saved keyword removes it from your other computers too. Uninstalling PinPeek removes its data from that browser.

Children

PinPeek is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.

Changes to this policy

If PinPeek ever starts handling data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
